One of those great sessions that turns out way better than expected. No
wind forecast, but it was filling in by 2pm from the sea breeze direction,
so decided to risk it and chucked the 7.4 in the car. Turned up at Meon
Shore (couldn't be bothered to drive further down the road to Salterns
Park; was looking good enough at Meon; was thinking it might be less windy
at Salterns). And what's going on...???? It's solid 6.0 weather!!!!!
Woohoo!!!!! Hooray for sea breezes!!!!!
Was maxed out from 4-5.30pm on the 6.0 fully downhauled. In a shorty and
not cold when sailing - nice. Pulled off a total of 3 duck gybes on the
inside! Wahey! Getting much closer to planing out of them. But STILL my
normal gybes on the outside (starboard to port) are pants, no more than 50%
dry and always mucho wobbly. Feel I need to spice up my flat water sessions
a bit more so will start going for more stuff next time - body drags, 360s,
attempt some duck gybes on starboard maybe.
Martin turned up around 5pm after I had texted him, then a few other mates
a bit later. Wind started to drop off after he went out, and from about 6pm
onwards it was crap, but then as I was leaving around 7pm it picked up
again a bit for everyone who had just gone out. So I didn't feel too guilty
about telling the masses and getting them to come down - but they
definitely missed the best period at the start when I was out by myself.
Can't believe it though about the footy got home just in time to watch it
and for 90 minutes my great day was continuing.....now I'm mucho pissed off
almost forgotten about my quality sailing session.
More wind forecast for the next few days. What a week this is turning out
to be. :)
